Head YouTek Speed Elite
$190.00
Released September, 2009
The Pros:Consistent feel and control during volleys. Better control on serves than with heavier racquets. Allows better top- and backspin on lobs than many competing models.
The Cons:May not be as heavy as some users like, can decrease serve power. Very stiff when returning hard shots compared to other Head racquets. Not very forgiving on slight mishits for groundshots.
The Head YouTek Speed Elite is a premier tennis racquet recommended for intermediate players at the 3.5+ level, as well as juniors transitioning into ‘an adult frame.’ It’s built specifically for faster swing speeds, and in fact makes a topspin much easier to generate, while still remaining easy to control with an easy access to spin.

Its chief component is Head’s new YouTek technology, which includes d3o adaptive materials that change behavior under dynamic loading or impact; Teflon for less friction and greater power; and Aramid bumpers. The d30 materials — dubbed ‘smart materials’ — host meta-morphing molecules that remain soft during slow hits, but lock up tight on harder, more powerful strokes. It essentially ‘senses your needs’ and then adapts accordingly.
